Stress Engineer (Structures) – Permanent – Filton

Protec Technical is seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to join a growing structures team on a permanent basis at a major aerospace campus near Filton. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer with a solid background in aerospace structural analysis who is looking to work on high-profile, complex programmes in a collaborative environment.

About the role

You will carry out structural stress and fatigue analysis in support of both new product development and in-service modification programmes. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will apply classical and FEA-based analysis methods to demonstrate structural integrity to EASA or equivalent airworthiness standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis on primary and secondary aircraft structures
• Develop and review stress reports and substantiation packages to support certification programmes
• Apply FEA software (NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or ANSYS) to model and validate structural designs
• Support design reviews and engage with DI/AI as required for airworthiness activities
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and materials teams to resolve structural issues

Requirements

• Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
• Minimum 3 years’ stress analysis experience in an aerospace environment
• Proficiency in FEA tools; NASTRAN experience is highly desirable
• Familiarity with EASA CS-25 or equivalent certification frameworks
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
• Right to live and work in the UK

Salary

£45,000–£58,000 per annum, dependent on experience. Benefits include pension, healthcare, and hybrid working options.
