Aerodynamics Engineer – Permanent – South East England

Protec Technical is recruiting an Aerodynamics Engineer for a permanent role with a specialist aerospace engineering consultancy in the South East. This is a technically stimulating opportunity for an engineer with a background in CFD and aerodynamic analysis to work across a diverse portfolio of civil and defence aerospace projects.

About the role

You will lead and contribute to aerodynamic analysis activities across a range of aircraft types and configurations, including fixed-wing and rotary platforms. The role involves significant CFD analysis, test data correlation, and direct engagement with clients on technical deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Perform CFD analysis and aerodynamic performance assessment using industry-standard tools (FLUENT, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or similar)
• Develop and validate aerodynamic models and databases for aircraft performance applications
• Support wind tunnel test planning, execution, and post-test data analysis
• Prepare and present technical reports and aerodynamic briefings to clients and internal stakeholders
• Contribute to research and development activities on novel aerodynamic concepts

Requirements

• MEng or MSc in Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• Minimum 3 years’ aerodynamics experience in an aerospace engineering environment
• Proficiency in at least one industry-standard CFD tool; experience with structured/unstructured meshing is essential
• Knowledge of experimental aerodynamics and wind tunnel testing methodologies
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills
• Right to live and work in the UK

Salary

£48,000–£62,000 per annum, plus benefits. Hybrid working arrangements available.
