Aerospace Systems Engineer – Permanent – Bristol

Protec Technical is recruiting an experienced Aerospace Systems Engineer for a permanent position with a leading aerospace prime in the Bristol area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering team working on complex, high-value programmes across both civil and defence aerospace.

About the role

Working within an integrated systems team, you will be responsible for the definition, development, and verification of aerospace systems across the full engineering lifecycle. You will engage with multi-disciplinary teams including avionics, structures, propulsion, and flight mechanics, and be expected to contribute to requirements capture, trade-off analysis, and system-level design reviews.

Key responsibilities

• Define and develop systems architectures to meet customer and regulatory requirements
• Lead requirements capture, decomposition, and traceability activities using systems engineering tools
• Support design reviews (PDR, CDR) and airworthiness certification activities
• Produce and review system-level specifications, interface control documents, and verification plans
• Engage with civil certification authorities (EASA/CAA) and/or defence acquisition bodies as required

Requirements

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in aerospace systems engineering on civil or defence programmes
• Proficiency with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, or Cameo
• Understanding of EASA CS-25 or DEF STAN airworthiness requirements is advantageous
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present confidently to senior stakeholders
• Right to live and work in the UK; eligibility for SC security clearance is desirable

Salary

£52,000–£65,000 per annum, plus benefits package including pension, private healthcare, and flexible working.
